Unfortunately, most over-the-counter remedies for flea control do not work because it does not take care of the root so they will keep coming back.
OHA will inspect the area and determine what stage of their life cycle they are in and what type of fleas we are dealing with so we know how to attack the problem. A part of the inspection is to examine all possible hosts including your pets and if possible checking to see if they came in on rats, racoons, or other animals that you may not be aware of.
Then OHA will put together a plan on how and what to use for treatment along with a plan of action on how to manage the problem and will also educate you on the flea’s life cycle, their habits, and behavior so that you can have a better handle on it in the future.
After the plan is initiated and completed we will set up a monitoring plan to keep them from ever coming back.
Here are some things that you can do to keep them from coming back.
- Check your home in little used areas such as crawl spaces and attics to see if rats, racoons, feral cats, or other animals could be lodging there bringing fleas in.
- Contact your vetinarian for flea protection for your pets.
- Regularly bath and groom your pets.
- Vacuum your home on a regular basis because it will remove flea eggs, larvai, pupae, and adults.
- Frequently wash your pets bedding and your bedding.
- Schedule a follow-up with us so that we can re-inspect the area for potential problems.
